United Windows vs Andersen

United Windows vs Andersen – how do these two companies match up to one another? Let’s peek under the hood at these two window brands and how they fare head to head. It should come as no shock that Andersen is the much better known of the two companies. Additionally, United Windows And Doors makes vinyl windows and patio sliders, while Andersen makes mostly wood-clad windows. Finally, United typically markets their products to a more budget minded customer, while Andersen is geared towards a higher price point customer. The one caveat is the Andersen 100, which is sold in Home Depots and appeals to a much more “mid range” customer base.

United’s Overall Rating: 6.5

Andersen’s Overall Rating: 9.0

Bottom Line: Andersen is the superior brand in this match up, but also the much more expensive of the two. Also, Andersen sells (mostly) wood clad windows, while United is strictly in the vinyl window space.

United Windows vs Andersen | Company Info

United is a New Jersey company that has been manufacturing vinyl window and doors since the 1950s. They make the following windows: 3800, 4500, 5800, 7400, the Bold Collection, storm windows, as well as patio sliders. As a brand, the company is decent, but certainly not in the same category as an Anlin (west coast) or a Polaris (mid west and east coast).

The United windows warranty is lifetime for the original buyer and covers the mainframe, sash, components, and insulated glass unit. While the warranty can be transferred, the new owner is only covered from 10 years from the date of purchase. Additional exclusions and provisions apply.

United Windows vs Andersen

Andersen Windows And Doors

As a window and door brand, Andersen is quite well known to many Americans. Unlike United (which is best known for vinyl windows), Andersen is best known for their premium wood-clad windows. Also, they have been manufacturing them for well over one hundred years. So, their wood series include the 200, 400, A-series, and E-series. Additionally, they make the 100 fibrex series, which they sell through Home Depot stores. The fibrex material is identical to that which they use to make Renewal By Andersen windows.

Andersen offers an excellent warranty on their windows and doors. Unfortunately, each product comes with a unique warranty so that it is difficult to sum up succinctly. However, our sister site does a good job with the Andersen Window Guarantee.

Window Replacement Options

Hello, I’m currently looking for windows for my home. So, I’m debating between Reliabilt 3900, Andersen 100 and the United Distinct series. Also, would it be possible to see your recommended list of windows? Thanks in advance.

Michael, of the three windows you are considering, my pick would be the Andersen 100 series over Reliabilt Windows or United. Happy to send you my recommended list – let me know whether you get what you were looking for there. If not, I’m happy to help out further.

United Windows vs Andersen

Bill, love the site, so thanks for that. Now, getting down to brass tacks. I have 2 double hung windows, both with half-moons on top.

Window Depot USA – Okna 600 Series – $2400

Tri-State Window Factory – 4200 Series – $4300

United Windows – 7400 – $5000

Ideal Windows – Perfect Fit – $5600

Jelsie, the Okna is the best option. Honestly, I am shocked (in a great way) that the Okna is less expensive than the United and TriState. To be honest, if these were my bids this decision would be very easy.
