Republic Windows and Doors was headquartered in Chicago, Illinois and had been in business since 1965. Over the course of its existence, the company made budget friendly vinyl windows and doors. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the best reputation for quality within the industry itself. The company ended up declaring bankruptcy in 2008. See below for our Republic Windows reviews.
Company Rating: 5 out of 10
Price Point: 5.5 out of 10
Bottom Line: The company is now out of business. There were always better options out there, even when they were in business.

Republic Windows Reviews
Consumer Review
The company has been around for a while but they don’t seem to get a lot of attention. Sometimes that’s a good thing, I’ve never heard anything terrible about them. A few years ago there were some problems with the sliding windows but I think they took care of that pretty quick. The spiral balance system hung around in their double hung windows long after everyone else had moved on but it worked okay.
The one thing I don’t like about them is that they really push the Heat Mirror thing and I’m just not a big fan. There have been a few too many questions about it, and the extra weight and price keep me from recommending it to people. However, it might turn out to be better in a couple more years.

Republic Windows Reviews
I went with Republic windows even though they were actually a little over my budget. The people they sent out to install them were great. Plus, they were on time and got it done fast. Additionally, they were really clean, putting down tarps and everything, and they didn’t leave a mess behind like every other contractor I’ve worked with. They did nick the stucco in a few places but they repaired it before they left. In all, I was totally happy with everything about the replacement windows installation.

Republic Windows Complaint
I had Republic out to give me a window replacement estimate. The salesman came out and he was really nice. He took some measurements and said he would send me the estimate. However, after 5 days I still hadn’t heard anything so I tried to call. The first guy never responded but I reached someone else and they came out, remeasured, then disappeared.
After that guy didn’t call back, I called a couple more times but no one seemed interested in helping me. If that’s how little they care when they’re trying to make a sale, then I don’t want to think about how bad it’ll be when there’s a problem with their windows. Before you go with these, I’d say read some more Republic Windows Reviews – you’ll come to the same conclusion I did.

Solid Choice
These windows have held up pretty well. We haven’t had any problems. They’re really sturdy and they look nice too. When we pressure washed the house a few months ago, the older windows had some leaks but the Republics didn’t give us any problems at all.
