The My Safe Florida Home Grant is a 2024 state program that helps Floridians safeguard their homes against hurricanes and other severe weather events. Specifically, the state offers grant moneies of up to $10,000 to qualifying Florida homeowners to help them improve their windows, shutters and/or roofs.
In 2024, the state of Florida spent $575 million under the MSFH program and performed over 110,000 home inspections. Unfortunately, receiving this grant money has proven difficult given the incredibly high demand in the state. FYI, Florida gives first priority for MSFH to low-income senior citizens.
Program Rating: 10 out of 10
Bottom Line: A great state program to help you improve your windows, doors, and roofs, but only if you qualify and only if your application (is) was accepted.
(Always collect 3 to 4 additional bids)

My Safe Florida Home Program
In addition to the grant money, the MSFH program can save Florida homeowners on home insurance. Many households can save up to $1K per year in the cost of homeowner insurance premiums. In addition, one other benefit is a complimentary home inspection, which must be completed, along with the application, prior to the state approving the grant money.
However, the real issue of the My Safe Florida Home Program is its availability. After only a few weeks of accepting applications, the program announced it would be putting a halt to any new applications. The reason was that so many Floridians had applied (and apparently all of the money has all been allocated). The department of financial services says they are working through the high number of current applications, and have asked homeowners to be patient while the process plays out.

Best Impact Windows
Hi Bill, I’m looking for your recommended list. Specifically, I’m comparing some quotes I got for the My Safe Florida Home program, for impact glass. Window World gave me a quote on their 8000 series, though I heard in your YouTube video that I should find out what brand that really means. FYI, another group is selling WinCore and quoting their 8800 series.

Jessica, here are my Florida recommendations. By the way, I find it interesting on the Wincore bid because this tends to be what Window World sells as their impact window. Nonetheless, good on you for getting into the My Safe Florida Home Grant Program – I heard that money went very quickly.
