What are the best patio doors on the market? We’ll give you our picks for top tier patio sliders in vinyl, fiberglass, and wood clad. It shouldn’t come as any real shock that many of the best window brands also make many of the best sliding doors. Alright, without further ado, here are our picks.
Best Patio Doors | Vinyl
Soft-Lite Patio Door
The Kingsroyal patio sliding door is an excellent option. Well made with excellent craftsmanship for high performance. Soft-Lite has quite a bit of distribution across most of the states east of the Mississippi.
Kingsroyal Overall Rating: 9.5
Okna Patio Door
The Elegante Patio Door is a very good option for anyone in the market for vinyl. Okna makes some of the best windows and doors of any company in the U.S. Okna has pretty similar distribution to Soft-Lite so there’s a good change that there’s an Okna option near you.
Elegante Overall Rating: 10

Sunrise
The Restorations Series (the company’s premium model) is available as a patio sliding door. Sunrise was recently bought by MI Windows and then integrated into their much larger distribution channel. The Sunrise Restorations should be available in much of the eastern half of the U.S. (including as far west as Denver Colorado).
Restorations Overall Rating: 9.0

Anlin
The Malibu Patio Door series is a great option and the only of our favorites that is available on the west coast. Anlin makes some great windows and doors that achieve very nice performance numbers. Anlin is the only brand available in the western a half of the U.S. (and not in every state so there’s no guarantee that there’s a dealer near you – if there is, this is the patio slider we recommend).
Kingsroyal Overall Rating: 8.5

Ideal
The Victorian series is our final pick in the vinyl category. Well made and well constructed – the result is a quality patio slider that gets the job done right. Ideal is based out of New Jersey, although they now have distribution in nearly 20 states in the northeast and mid west regions of the country. If there is a dealer near you, you’d better believe we recommend picking up a free project price quote.
Victorian Overall Rating: 8.0
Best Fiberglass Patio Doors
Alpen Patio Door
Alpen HPP (no series name) is made of fiberglass and also made to perform. This patio door simply can’t be beat in the United States for a quality build, excellent craftsmanship and low tolerances. Alpen is Colorado based and their distribution is, unfortunately, not all that far and wide. But if you can find a local dealer and can afford the price tag, you can’t do any better than Alpen.
Alpen HPP Overall Rating: 10
Marvin Patio Door
The leader in fiberglass windows and doors, Marvin offers a patio sliding door in all of their three main series: the Signature (Ultimate), the Elevate (fiberglass), and the Essential. Marvin’s performance numbers might not be up to par with Alpen, but they sure know how to make a beautiful looking patio door (and window). While not cheap, their products are high quality and offer a timeless beauty to consumers across nearly all of the United States.
Elevate Overall Rating: 9.5
Best Wood Patio Doors
The most expensive of any material on the market. These doors are meant for homeowners who have to have interior wood because of the quality of their windows and doors. (the warranty on all wood products is going to pale in comparison to vinyl and fiberglass).
Pella Patio Slider
Known for their beautiful windows and doors, the company offers a patio slider in their Reserve (upper end series) and Lifestyle (entry level series). These are not going to be cheap by any means, but oh man they are pretty.
Elevate Overall Rating: 9.5
Andersen Patio Doors
Andersen makes excellent patio doors, especially their French Door in the 400 series. This is one of the best in the business.

Paradigm Storm Door
Hello: We need a storm door for one of our door entrances. We are considering a Paradigm or an Anderson storm door. Any thoughts? Thanks.

My vote would be ProVia, Larsen, or Harvey would be my go-to picks. Paradigm is solid though. I’m not sure I would go with Andersen on the storm door front.
