Alpen made windows and doors from 1981 too 2008, at which time Serious Materials bought the company. Unfortunately, just four years later, Serious Windows had to declare bankrupt. Alpen HPP then bought their assets out of bankruptcy and has been making highly efficient fiberglass windows and patio sliding doors ever since. The company is widely regarded as one of the best fiberglass windows on the market today.
Alpen HPP has thtree main residential series – Zenith, Tyrol, and winSert. The Zenith is available in the ZR-3 (U-vaue .26), ZR-5 (U-value .17), ZR-6 the improved (525 Series), ZR-9, and ZR-10. The Tyrol Series is available in either the TR-6 or TR-9. The company also offers their Winsert replacement windows and their Aspekt+ passive house windows and doors.

Hi Dane, thanks for the information. Do you have any recommended installers in the Washington D.C / Baltimore area? I’ve reached out to Windows on Washington and several other local companies, but if you know of any highly reputable companies, I would appreciate your insight. I had heard about Alpen windows, but I’m not sure they are available in this area.

John, nothing specific, but definitely look up Ideal Windows and see if you can get a bid from a local Ideal dealer. Alpen Windows is based out of Louisville, but I agree that they are probably not available in the area.
