Window Universe is an Alexandria, Virginia based company that has been offering replacement window services since 2008. They don’t actually make any windows or doors, instead they install one of two windows — both very similar to one another as far as I am concerned. They install the following:

Gentek Signature Elite
Are These Windows Good? I’d say they are decent. Not bad and not great. But fine for many homeowners when combined with professional installation. Not a “must buy” – but a “maybe buy” at the right price.

Confused About The Motivation
Hey Bill, I was curious what you thought about window universe and their installation. The reviews seem a little bit all over the board. But the window dog seems to really like them and really promote them so I didn’t know what the deal was. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sally, the window dog I believe is one of the owners in window universe, and so I think that’s a prime reason why he is constantly pushing them on his website. To be honest, I think the windows they sell are good. I wouldn’t say that they’re the best in the business, but they’re pretty good in general. The prices they offer are also pretty darn competitive.
But I think where it begins to break down is in some of these reviews where it seems like the installation teams don’t do all that great a job. This is more hearsay than anything else from consumers such as yourself.
I think this would be my advice: you should consider Window Universe if this isn’t your forever home, and if the local branch you were getting a bid from has good online reviews regarding installation. If the reviews are poor, then I really think you need to move on. I don’t think it hurts to ever get a bid though, so you could always get a bid and see what they come in at and see what you’re overall feeling of the company is.
